Your local council offers grants to people who have disabilities that wish to make home improvements in order for them to use their home more easily. This includes things like:
Any residents of housing associations, home owners or private tenants can apply for the disability grant from their local council if they are disabled or if anyone that lives at the property is. Property owners who have disabled tenants can also apply for the grant.
If you are registered diabled or are eligible to register as disabled, have a low income and have savings of less than £6,000 then upon request our team can assist you with any information you require for applying.
We can offer advice on how to apply for the grant as can your local council. They will be able to offer much more extensive advice relating to your specific area. Contact your local council to apply for the disabled bathroom grant here.
Once you have made your application, the council should arrange for an occupational therapist to visit your home before a decision is made.
If your application is accepted, contact us so we can set up a meeting to discuss your bathroom renovations.
The local council to which you apply and how long it takes them to process your application determines this. It takes about 12 to 14 weeks on average, but more complicated installations may take longer.
Did you know that we can deduct the VAT on our products and installations if you are disabled or over 60 and require a bathroom adaptation to help you live more comfortably? If this applies to you, talk to the surveyor during the home visit and they will happily advise.
We will assist you with questions about planning permission and designs if you are approved for a DFG grant and receive provisional approval.
